Last night the team learned the rule of 9's. 9 locomotion directions, 9 points of balance, 9 angles of attack and primary impact weapons. We then applied these in Kamae Waza, focussing on Ashore Sebaki, and also in Ukraine Waza. |

Small but active class last night. Started with Ukemi Waza. Then Keri Waza and Kamai Waza while others did Tsuki Waza and Kaishu Waza. Finishing up, we touched on a few locks from Kansetsu/Tuide Waza. Worked up a bit of a sweat and enjoyed a chat afterwards. Good class team. |

Wednesday some the students learned a very valuable lesson. They learned a new form (Heian Yondan) however through learning Nyumon Futari-geiko, Tegumi, Gyaku Waza and Shimme Waza beforehand, they already knew some great applications for the form at first sight. |

Congratulations to the 6 students that graded to 6th Kyu in KU on Sunday. This is the first KU grading held in SA and I'm pleased to congratulate Adam, Andrew, Jack, Justin, Quan and Tobey on their achievement. I hope this will create a new sense of enthusiasm for their continued journey. |

A great session covering a huge variety. Uke waza, taisabaki oyo jutsu, some kansetsu waza and half shimme waza. Thai pads on a 43deg day with no a/c is a new experience. Well done to Adam! |

Thanks again to Renshi Jason Griffiths for the recent seminars. Saturday
covered Bo fundamentals while Sunday covered the 12 Motubu drills and
Naihanchi kata. Of most value to KU-SA students was the review session on the
Wenesday, aimed at tidying up those loose ends. A very beneficial session

Tonight: after Junbi Undo, Ne-Keri Waza and Kihon Uke Waza we worked various
individual HAPV looking at different defences. Specifically we sampled from
Combat Hapkido, Chinese/American Kenpo and Shotokan Karate showing how
standard syllabus techniques from these systems also directly relate KU HAPV
and particularly Tegumi. |

working different ranges. Went through Heishu Waza alternating detail or

night was the first KU study group in SA. A small but enthusiastic group came
along and learned some ideas and principles they could learn and take back to
their dojo. We covered some Shime Waza, Kansetsu/Tuite Waza and Tegumi. I'm
sure these session will grow into a valuable tool for those teachers seeking
new ideas. |

class was a screaming success! More students than we've had in there before
and everyone was enthusiastic as ever. We started with the details of the new
Reishiki (ettiquette), covered a large range of things including Junbi Undo (warmups),
Kihon (fundamentals), Ukemi Waza (falls), Heishu Waza (closed fist/altern...ative
strikes) and shimme Waza (chokes/strangulations). I'm beaming with
excitement!! |
