This is the main church in Levidi this is in the platia. There are six in total but only three are used every week, St John, St George and
Taxiarhis(Archangels)
This one is in the highest part of Levidi it has frescoes in it dating back to the
12th century.In Taxiarhis the icons are painted on the marble walls and you can
see where the Turks have gouged out the eyes.
The view is breathtaking when you look down the mountain towards the farming plots and the
famous Orhomeno, with its 2500 year
old archiological site and its ancient ampitheater. This is near my fathers house and my
granfathers small plot of land next to the church containing a small stoned store house
called the Kaliva.
