Brown Thornbill - Acanthiza pusilla

Resident in small numbers. A small brown bird with a streaky breast and russet forecrown, olive-buff flanks. Has a red-brown eye. A good mimic. Feeds in mid-canopy, often with other small birds.

Voice: rich 'pee-orr', other small squeaks and churrs. Buzzing scolding like White-browed Scrubwren when alarmed.

Similar species: Striated Thornbill also has a streaked breast, but has pale streaking below and behind the eye, and has yellow-buff flanks; call is insect-like 'tizz, tizz'.

Call 1: 'pee-orr' call
