Grey Currawong - Strepera versicolor

Resident in small numbers. A large black or dark grey bird with a white-tipped tail and white vent. Has a yellow eye.

Voice: loud ringing call.

Call 1: ringing call

Similar species: Other large black birds are Ravens (Little in the Adelaide Hills, Australian in drier country) which are all black and have white eyes, and White-winged Choughs, which have white panels in the wings and have red eyes. Choughs have not yet been recorded in SLP.
