Superb Fairywren - Malurus cyaneus

Resident in small numbers. A very small bird with a long, cocked tail. Male in breeding plumage has bright blue crown, face and back, black eye-line and nape, very dark blue breast. Female is brown with red-brown bill and around eye, underparts pale. Non-breeding male is like female, but with black bill, blue tail. Travel in family groups, often on ground or in shrubs, also forage in lower canopy.

Voice: brisk, accelerating trilling, quiet contact calls.

Call 1: trills.
