The Holden Story
GMH went automatic with the release of the EK-the
sixth Holden- in 1961.
The Hydramatic three speed automatic transmission became
available in the range. The automatic was manufactured at the
Detroit Transmission Division in the U.S.A.
The EK was mechanically the same as the FB. But the new car had
much cleaner lines, a new grille and emblems on the hub caps.
Interior trim was revised.
The exterior colour range was extended to include both bright and
conservative shades, in acrylic lacquer.
Other changes included an interior bonnet release catch and
electric windscreen wipers.
